The Shack
I was recommended this book by my sister back in December. After looking at the front cover and being so naive as to what it was about, it just looked like a scary murder book by a quick glance at the cover. Then about a week ago, a friend and I were having a conversation about God. She brought up the book and said that a pastor's wife had told her to read it. That it made her completely question everything that she had ever believed. Once she explained to me that it had a totally different subject than I originally thought. I decided, I better go read it! I truly understand what is meant by don't judge a book by it's cover literally! I was sooo off base. This book has no scary or horror attributes. I can't believe that I was so closed minded. Looking back at the cover now, it doesn't even look scary. Its weird to think of what frame of mind I was in back in December, to even conceive the notion it was scary. So after 3 days of reading with many interruptions from my very active 3-year old, I finally finished the 250 page book. It was a great book! I won't give you any details because I do't want to ruin the beautiful story that is held within. What I am gonna say is that.............it puts a beautiful perspective on God and how close the relationship to him can and should be. It sheds light on how a sadness can overtake you and how yo learn to forgive to finally be able to move on. Go to the book store and get a copy right away. Everyone should read it!
